Squirrel Monkeys (Mono Titis) are one of the most common animals to Costa Rica. Recently, due to industrial agriculture, power lines, and tourism development these monkeys are being threatened by declining numbers. Because of their relative friendliness and cuteness they are also sought out for pets in the illegal pet trade. These are very wild animals, however, and much prefer trees to homes!! We look forward to our next release of three of these male monkeys back into the wild later this year.
