Woolly Opossum & Three-toed Sloth Released

Woolly Opossum
The Woolly Opossum right after being released

We do not always bring every animal we rescue to the center, sometimes we are just called to help wildlife that is caught or stuck somewhere, as was the case with this adult, woolly opossum. This marsupial was trapped between someone’s door, so the sanctuary was called to safely remove it and release it back into its home.

male three toed slothWe were providing refuge to a three-toed sloth for approximately one week, after one member of staff was called to rescue it. After a night of strong rain, a resident found it trapped between rocks, after falling into a creek. He was weak. We kept him under close inspection for the week to ensure that there were no underlying issues, after which, he was released.
