Volunteering at Alturas Wildlife Sanctuary gives you the opportunity to actively participate in our wildlife rescue, rehabilitation, and conservation program here in Costa Rica.
Volunteer
As a volunteer, you are able to work with a range of injured and orphaned primates, mammals, birds, and sometimes reptiles in our sanctuary. You will meet lots of like-minded people, and have opportunities to explore the pristine wilderness and experience genuine Costa Rican culture.
Depending on your duration of stay, as a volunteer you will be able to assist with daily husbandry chores in our sanctuary and rehab center, enrichment creation and administration, diet preparation and feeding the animals, animal observations, wild food collection, and general maintenance. At any time, you might be able to assist with rescues and releases. Please, keep in mind that rescues and releases are unpredictable and might not occur during your stay; the longer you stay the more chance you will have of them happening!
Volunteers at Alturas Wildlife Sanctuary can also benefit from discounts on some social and touristic activities to be carried out in the area.
